How To Decorate Your Balcony With Lights

Adding lighting to your balcony can extend the amount of time you spend outdoors. Here you’ll find tips on how and what kind of lighting is best for your balcony.

Regardless of whether you have a small balcony or large one, there are lots of things you can do to decorate your balcony space. Today I’m focusing on lighting, because it’s simple and yet has a huge effect. Adding lights will extend the time you spend outdoors. It will transform your space into a relaxation oasis. You may even find yourself hosting evening parties as the sun sets. Here are some things to keep in mind as you decorate your balcony with lights.

What kind of lights do I choose?

To answer this question you need to ask yourself if you want something simple with little effort and with no impact on your electricity bill. If this describes your interest, then choose solar lights.

If these things don’t matter to you, then you can choose an electric incandescent trendy bulb. Or go even simpler and choose Christmas lights.

Where do you put them?

With solar lights, you can put them wherever, but if you will be plugging in to a power outlet, keep the location of the power source in mind.

If you’re working with a string of lights, you can simply hang them from your banister. You may want to zip tie them straight across or gently hang them between banister posts.

Find something to hang them from. I have a trellis on my balcony so I threaded my solar lights through the trellis.

Table lanterns are always a nice touch.

Hopefully this has given you something to think about. Definitely check out places like your dollar store, hardware store and even Homesense for more ideas. Feel free to share your balcony decorating ideas! Thanks for stopping by the blog!
